Madison's Story

Let me introduce myself. My name is Madison Rose and I was born with Down Syndrome. I am 10 years old and am so excited about grade 5 and seeing all my friends. I worked on my homework all summer so that I will be ready. I have 2 older brothers and 2 older sisters. I am the baby of the family. I also have a dog named Brodie who loves to lick my face, especially after I have eaten. And I am now a  Auntie to Ethan born Jan 17.

Down Syndrome means that I take longer to learn new things. I rolled over when I was six months old but could not sit up until I was a year old because the muscles in my back were so floppy. I did not walk until I was 3 ½  but now I can run really fast. I also had to wear pull-ups until I was 5 as I was not potty trained yet. I have spent a lot of time in the hospital with pneumonia.

My favorite toys are books and balls. I love to read and can catch and throw a ball really high. I can print my own name and do really good on my spelling and sight word tests. My favorite food is nachos. I like to dip my chips in lots and lots of salsa. Dora was my favorite TV show when I was younger Now I love High School Musical and Hanna Montana

I get myself dressed in the morning while my Mom is dressing too. I make my bed when I get up all by myself. I can get my own breakfast but my Mom likes me to wait until she is in the kitchen because I make a mess. I get my own shoes and coat on before we leave and put my shoes back in the laundry room when I come back.

I love to play with my friends and am invited to lots of birthday parties. When I am home, I like to listen to music and dance or play on my very own pink computer.

When I grow up I want to be a librarian because I love books so much.
